About NYStocks

NYStocks is a free research tool for people following the New York Stock Exchange. It does three things: shows you what the market did today, lets you filter companies against criteria you choose, and explains the concepts in plain English.

What we cover

We track 80 of the largest NYSE-listed companies across all eleven GICS sectors. That is a deliberate choice: a curated universe we can keep accurate beats an exhaustive one full of stale figures.

Where the data comes from

Live quotes come from a third-party market data provider and are labelled with their source and timestamp on every page that shows prices. Fundamental figures — market cap, P/E, dividend yield — are periodic snapshots rather than live values, and we say so wherever they appear.

If the site is running without a configured data provider, it displays clearly-marked sample data and tells you so in a banner. We will never present generated numbers as real quotes. You can read more about why free market data works the way it does.

How we make money

Through affiliate relationships with brokers, disclosed next to every link that has one. That is the whole model. We do not sell your data, we do not run ad networks, and we do not accept payment for coverage or for favourable write-ups. If a broker link pays us, it says so; if it does not, it says nothing.
